Snellville is in Gwinnett County, east of Atlanta. Its map starts at a crossroads where US 78 meets State Route 124, the historic centre of town and still its commercial heart. From there, subdivisions spread outward, each with its own looping streets and cul-de-sacs, separated by wooded strips and small creeks.
The town takes its name from Thomas Snell, one of its founders in the late nineteenth century. It is known for its friendly slogan, Everybody's Somebody in Snellville. Like much of metro Atlanta, it grew quickly in the late twentieth century, and its map shows that growth clearly.
