Sohāgpur is a town in the Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh, on the plains between the Narmada valley and the Satpura range to the south. From above, it shows a tight, irregular centre of lanes and buildings, with a looser ring of newer streets that fades into cultivated fields.
A railway line passes through the town, part of the route linking Itarsi with Jabalpur. Its straight track contrasts with the winding roads of the old market area. Local roads spread outward into a patchwork of farmland, and small streams and tanks break up the pattern of fields.
