Ko e mape
Stockerau lies northwest of Vienna on the southern edge of the Weinviertel, on flat ground beside the Danube floodplain. The map shows a historic core arranged around a long main square and the parish church. Later residential quarters and industrial areas surround it. Rail lines and major roads meet here, a sign of the town's long role on routes leading north from the capital.
The parish church of St. Stephen has one of the tallest church towers in Lower Austria and is still the obvious landmark on the skyline. The poet Nikolaus Lenau spent part of his youth in Stockerau and drew on the nearby wetlands in his poetry. The town still honours that connection, which fits a place so defined by its riverside landscape.
To the south, the Danube meadows form a wide belt of floodplain forest crossed by old side channels and paths. In a Stockerau map poster this green area contrasts sharply with the orderly town streets. It gives the composition a natural boundary that shifts depending on how far the frame reaches toward the river.
The long central square runs through the old town and anchors the street network. Lanes and courtyards branch from it in a pattern typical of Lower Austrian towns.
South of town, the floodplain forest along the Danube spreads out as a web of side channels, backwaters and footpaths, drawn as a soft, irregular texture on the print.
Railway tracks and highways sweep past the town toward Vienna and the north. They cut long, clean lines through the surrounding fields and frame the built-up area.
