Talitay is a municipality in the Bangsamoro region of Mindanao, in the lowlands of the Maguindanao area. This is flat, well-watered country of rivers, wetlands and farmland, where rice and other crops are grown. On a map the municipality looks much more rural than urban, with its settlements strung along roads and waterways.
Rather than a single dense centre, Talitay has a network of barangays linked by rural roads. Rivers and creeks wind across the plain, and in many places houses follow their banks. The area's open, low terrain means the roads can run long and straight between clusters of buildings, with irregular field patterns in between.
