Ko e mape
Traun lies directly south-west of Linz in Upper Austria and is one of the larger towns in the state. It takes its name from the river Traun, which flows along its northern side on the way to the Danube. On the map the river forms a green corridor of meadows and woods. The town spreads south of it in a mix of residential streets and commercial areas.
Traun Castle, a Renaissance building, stands near the river, and parts of the older village layout survive around it. Much of the town grew in the second half of the twentieth century as Linz expanded. This gives the street pattern a varied, layered look, with major roads and transport links tying it to the city.
A Traun map poster works as a portrait of a town that is independent and also part of a larger urban area. The river edge gives a strong natural line, and the newer districts fill the frame with detail. In black and white the transition from riverside greenery to suburban streets becomes especially clear.
The river runs along the town's northern edge between wooded banks and meadows, forming a broad natural band across the map.
The area around Traun Castle keeps traces of the old village layout, with irregular streets that contrast with the newer districts further south.
Major roads link Traun to Linz, so the map shows how the two built-up areas meet and merge toward the edge of the frame.
