Ko e mape
Truro is the only city in Cornwall. It sits in a valley where two small rivers, the Kenwyn and the Allen, meet and flow into the Truro River, a tidal creek that winds south to join the Fal estuary. From above, the old centre fills the valley floor around the waterways. Newer neighbourhoods climb the surrounding slopes, and a railway viaduct crosses the valley on the city's western side.
Truro Cathedral, built between 1880 and 1910 in a Gothic Revival style, rises above the city centre with its three spires. Lemon Street, lined with Georgian houses, recalls the city's prosperity from the tin and copper trades.
A Truro map poster shows a compact, historic city shaped by water and hills. Streets converge on the old core, the rivers and the creek add soft, curving lines, and the roads out of the valley climb in long bends. It is detailed at the centre and open at the edges, a natural fit for a black-and-white print.
The Kenwyn and Allen rivers join in the city centre and become the tidal Truro River. Their meeting point sets the shape of the old core.
Truro Cathedral stands at the heart of the city, surrounded by a close-knit web of old streets. It is the central landmark around which the map is organised.
South of the centre, the Truro River widens into a winding tidal creek on its way to the Fal. Its curves form one of the most distinctive lines on the map.
