Uarini is a small town in the state of Amazonas, in the middle Solimões region of the Brazilian Amazon, not far from Tefé. On a map, water dominates. River channels, oxbow lakes and flooded forest surround the town, and the built area sits on a stretch of higher bank. There are few roads. Most travel here is by boat, and the map reflects that.
The town is widely known for farinha de Uarini, a coarse, granular manioc flour valued across the Amazon and recognised with a geographical indication.
