Ko e mape
Walnut sits in eastern Los Angeles County, where the San Gabriel Valley meets the Pomona Valley and the land begins to fold into the San Jose Hills. It incorporated in 1959 and has kept a deliberately semi-rural feel, with large lots, horse trails and a street plan that curves with the terrain rather than following a grid.
On the map this produces a pattern quite unlike the rectilinear blocks of neighbouring cities. Loops, crescents and short cul-de-sacs branch off a few collector roads, and green gaps mark slopes left undeveloped. State Route 60 runs along the southern side, a firm straight line against the softer shapes of the residential neighbourhoods.
The largest single footprint belongs to Mt. San Antonio College, one of the biggest community colleges in California, whose campus spreads across the hills on the city's eastern side. A Walnut map poster captures both the campus and the quiet residential loops around it, a portrait of a place many people know as home rather than as a destination.
Streets bend around the contours of the San Jose Hills, forming crescents and cul-de-sacs that give the print an organic, almost hand-drawn texture.
The broad campus of Mt. SAC, with its buildings, parking fields and athletics facilities, forms a large and distinctive block of shapes on the city's eastern side.
State Route 60 runs along the south of the city, a straight, heavy line that anchors the composition beneath the looser pattern of neighbourhood streets.

Ko e ha Walnut
For families who settled in Walnut for its schools and quiet streets, or for Mt. SAC alumni, this map is a precise memento of a familiar landscape. The curving street pattern also stands on its own as a graphic image, pleasing even to someone who has never visited.
Personalise the title and subtitle, mark a move-in or graduation date, and adjust the coordinates line. Pick one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint or Sand, and choose between a $9 set of HD files in six sizes or a printed poster.
