Yizhou is a district of Hechi in northern Guangxi, lying in a valley shaped by the limestone karst landscape typical of the region. From above, the town follows the course of the Long River. It stretches along the valley floor, while steep, rounded hills rise on either side.
The area is known in Chinese folk tradition as the home of Liu Sanjie, the legendary singer of the Zhuang people. Her story is celebrated in songs and a well-known film. The landscape of river and karst peaks is closely associated with that story.
