Adliswil lies just south of Zurich in the Sihl valley. The river Sihl runs through the town from south to north, and the valley between the Albis ridge to the west and the hills towards Lake Zurich to the east sets its long, narrow shape on a map.
The railway and main road follow the valley alongside the river, and residential areas rise onto the slopes on both sides. From the town, a cable car climbs to Felsenegg on the Albis, a popular viewpoint over Zurich, the lake and, on clear days, the Alps.
