Aschaffenburg Map Poster & Print
Aschaffenburg lies on the Main River at the western edge of Bavaria, where the river curves past the foot of the Spessart hills. On a map, the old town sits on the right bank, above a bend in the river. Its irregular medieval lanes contrast with the more regular nineteenth-century streets around them, and bridges connect it to the districts across the water.
The city's landmark is Schloss Johannisburg, a large Renaissance palace built of red sandstone that once served as a residence of the Archbishops of Mainz. Nearby, the Pompejanum reproduces a Roman villa above the river, and Park Schönsbusch lies further out, laid out as an English landscape garden.
An Aschaffenburg map poster brings out the river and the layers of the city. There is the curve of the Main, the tight old town, the square footprint of the palace, the rail lines and ring roads, and parks opening up along the banks. It is a detailed, balanced print of a classic central European town.

Schloss Johannisburg
The palace's large, square outline stands out at the river's edge. It is one of the clearest landmarks on the map and sits next to the old town's winding lanes.
Parks and gardens
Park Schönbusch and the gardens along the river open up green areas in the city plan, and they break the street pattern into calmer, open shapes.
