Historic centre
The old town sits on higher ground, with narrow, irregular streets around the cathedral. On the map it forms a dense core distinct from the wider blocks around it.

Avellino Map Poster & Print
Avellino is the capital of the province of the same name in Campania, southern Italy, and lies in a wide basin of the Apennines east of Naples. From above, the old centre forms a compact knot of streets on raised ground, and the main avenue stretches out from it. Newer neighbourhoods spread across the gentle slopes and valleys around it.
The city is the heart of Irpinia, a hilly region known for wines such as Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Taurasi. The 1980 Irpinia earthquake caused severe damage here and across the region, and much of Avellino was rebuilt over the following decades. The sanctuary of Montevergine, on Monte Partenio above neighbouring Mercogliano, has drawn pilgrims for centuries.
An Avellino map poster shows a city defined by its setting. The street network fans out from the historic core toward roads that climb into the hills, while the surrounding mountains leave broad empty spaces around the edges. The composition is compact yet open, and it suits the Paper and Noir styles well.

Corso Vittorio Emanuele
The main avenue runs as a long straight line through the modern centre, the axis along which the city grew in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Apennine basin
Mountains and hills surround the city on almost every side. Roads curve away along the valleys, and the empty uplands frame the dense streets in the middle of the poster.
