The Tocantins
The river is the widest element on the map by far. Its broad channel and scattered islands frame the town and give the poster a strong horizontal flow.

Baião Map Poster & Print
Baião sits on the bank of the Tocantins in the Brazilian state of Pará, downstream of the great Tucuruí reservoir. From above, the river takes up most of the view: a broad band of water with long sandbanks and islands. The town is a thin strip of settlement along its edge, and that shape makes for a clear, uncluttered composition.
The street pattern is modest. A handful of roads run parallel to the shore and are crossed by shorter lanes that climb gently inland. Past the last blocks the lines thin out into tracks, small plots and the texture of the surrounding landscape. On a minimalist print, dense town and open country sit side by side in a way large cities never quite show.
A Baião map poster is really a portrait of a river town, the kind of place that has always depended on the water for travel, trade and fishing along the Tocantins. In black and white, the river becomes a calm open field, and the town's streets read like fine handwriting along its margin.

Shoreline streets
The main roads follow the riverbank, so the settlement stretches along the water instead of spreading outward, which gives the town its long, narrow outline.
Edge of the forest
Inland, the street grid dissolves quickly into tracks and open ground. That soft boundary between town and landscape is easy to see in the monochrome styles.
