The river
The Cagayan de Oro River loops nearby and forms the most natural edge on the map. Its broad curves contrast with the straighter lines of the streets.

Balulang Map Poster & Print
Balulang is a barangay of Cagayan de Oro, the port city on the northern coast of Mindanao. On a map it appears as part of the city's growing residential belt. Streets and subdivisions fill the land near the Cagayan de Oro River, which winds north through the city toward Macajalar Bay.
The river shapes both the geography and the recent history of this part of the city. Its floodplain and bends define where neighbourhoods have grown. In December 2011 Tropical Storm Washi (Sendong) caused severe flooding along the river, and riverside barangays including this area were among those affected.
A Balulang map poster shows a neighbourhood rather than a monument. It is a pattern of subdivision streets, main roads and cul-de-sacs, set against the curve of the river. The black-and-white treatment brings out the character of everyday urban growth, and it suits anyone who calls this part of Cagayan de Oro home.

Subdivision streets
Planned residential subdivisions add clusters of short streets, loops and dead ends. They create small pockets of pattern inside the wider district.
Links to downtown
Main roads connect Balulang to the city centre and the coast. They run through the neighbourhood as the strongest lines in the composition.
