Bhānpura Map Poster & Print
Bhanpura is a town in Mandsaur district in the far west of Madhya Pradesh, close to the border with Rajasthan. From above, the town forms a compact cluster at the edge of hilly, rocky country, with farmland spreading out on the flatter ground. Its main roads leave the centre towards neighbouring towns and the Chambal river region to the east.
The town has strong links to the Holkar dynasty of Indore. Maharaja Yashwantrao Holkar died here in 1811, and his memorial chhatri in Bhanpura is the town’s best-known monument. Not far away is the Gandhi Sagar reservoir on the Chambal, one of the largest in the region, along with the rock-cut sites and plateaus of this historic landscape.
