De kaart
Borongan Map Poster & Print
Borongan is the capital of Eastern Samar province and sits directly on the island's eastern shore, looking out over the open Pacific. On the map, the town centre is a small, dense cluster of streets near the coast, where a river reaches the sea and the shoreline curves in a long, gentle arc to the north and south.
Behind the town the land rises into low, forested hills, and the road network thins quickly once it leaves the coastal plain. Villages string along the coastal highway, and small islands sit just beyond the shoreline. The Pacific swell that reaches this coast has made Borongan known among surfers in the Philippines.
Because so much of the town's life is shaped by the sea, the coastline becomes the dominant line on the poster, with the streets gathered tightly against it. A Borongan map poster records that balance between ocean, river and hills, and the modest scale of a provincial capital on the eastern edge of the Philippine archipelago.

River at the centre
A river runs through the town to the sea, and the main streets gather close to its mouth, where the provincial capital's centre and waterfront meet.
Hills behind town
West of the built-up area, forested hills close in quickly, so the town stays a narrow coastal strip with roads branching inland along the valleys.
