Bougado Map Poster & Print
Bougado lies in the municipality of Trofa, north of Porto, and its old parishes form much of the town that Trofa became. On a map the pattern is typical of the Minho-Douro countryside: roads that follow ridges and valleys, houses lining them, and small plots of farmland filling the spaces between. There is no single centre so much as a network of settled lanes.
The River Ave winds through the area, and its looping course gives the map its most memorable shape. The railway line heading north from Porto crosses the landscape too, a straighter mark cutting across the softer curves of river and lanes. Together they describe a place that sits between the metropolitan area and the rural north.
A Bougado map poster captures that in-between character: the meanders of the Ave, the rail line, the scattered village cores that merged into a town. In black and white the composition feels calm and organic, more like a drawing of a valley than a city plan, which makes it an unusual and personal piece for anyone connected to the parish.

Northbound railway
The rail line from Porto crosses Bougado in a long, even curve, a geometric counterpoint to the irregular country roads around it.
Village lane network
Roads here follow the terrain rather than a grid, so houses string along them in ribbons, leaving fields and woodland visible between the built-up lines.

Waarom Bougado
Een kaart met betekenis
People who grew up in Bougado often still describe home by parish rather than by municipality, and a map of it holds onto that local identity. It suits a hallway or bedroom, especially as a gift for someone who has moved to Porto or abroad.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or a year, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 download includes six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files.
