La Ligua valley
The river runs through a narrow valley, and on the map the main road and the town itself follow its course closely from one end of the frame to the other.

Cabildo Map Poster & Print
Cabildo is a town and commune in the Petorca Province of Chile's Valparaíso Region, in the upper valley of the La Ligua River. The valley floor is narrow, and on a map the town appears as a band of streets following the river, with steep, dry slopes close on both sides. Roads run down the valley toward La Ligua and the coast.
The town centre is laid out in regular blocks around a plaza, a pattern common to Chilean towns of the colonial and republican periods. Beyond the centre the grid loosens into farm roads and scattered houses, with orchards and fields on the flat land beside the river. The contrast between that tidy core and the looser edges gives the map its shape.
Farming and mining have long shaped the local economy, and water scarcity in the Petorca area has become a widely discussed issue in Chile, with rivers running low for long periods. A Cabildo map poster shows the valley in simple lines: the course of the river, the town grid and the hills that set its limits.

Plaza and blocks
The centre is laid out in regular blocks around a main square, making it the most compact and orderly part of the print.
Valley walls
Steep, dry slopes rise on either side of the valley, so streets and houses stop abruptly where the flat ground ends, which gives the town a clear outline.
