Trinity Inlet
The tidal inlet curls along the city's eastern side, lined with mangroves and cut by winding creeks. On the map it becomes the most detailed, organic shape in the composition.

Cairns Map Poster & Print
Cairns sits on the east coast of Far North Queensland, on the western shore of Trinity Inlet, with the Coral Sea just beyond. The city centre is laid out in a compact grid of wide streets running down to the Esplanade and the waterfront. To the west, steep ranges rise sharply behind the suburbs, pressing the city into a narrow band between mountains and sea.
Cairns is best known as a base for visiting the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforest, both World Heritage areas. Boats leave for the reef from the marina, while the Kuranda Scenic Railway and the Skyrail cableway climb into the ranges above the city. The Esplanade Lagoon, a public swimming pool beside the tidal flats, is a familiar sight on the waterfront.
A Cairns map poster shows a city defined by its edges. The inlet and its mangrove channels form an intricate, branching shape across the water, the airport and tidal flats lie to the north, and the suburbs stretch in long bands toward the northern beaches. The central grid holds everything together, sharp and regular against the curving coastline.

The Esplanade
The waterfront promenade runs along the edge of the grid, facing the tidal flats and the sea. Its long curve marks the clearest line between the city and the water.
Ranges to the west
Steep forested mountains rise close behind the suburbs. Roads wind up into them toward Kuranda and the tablelands, leaving large open areas that frame the dense city below.

Waarom Cairns
Een kaart met betekenis
Cairns is a place many people pass through on the way to the reef, and some stay for years. Divers, backpackers, locals and former residents hang it to remember the heat, the inlet and the mountains, with a map that feels calmer than a holiday photo.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, so you can add the date of a dive trip or a move north. Blueprint and Sand suit the coastal setting well, and printed posters ship from print partners in more than 30 countries.
