Compact centre
The heart of Caohui is a dense knot of short streets. It is the busiest area of the frame and gives the poster a clear focal point.

Caohui Map Poster & Print
Caohui lies in the rolling countryside of Chongqing municipality, far from the high-rise centre and the river gorges. From above, the landscape is closely folded. Low hills and small valleys follow one another, and they are cut by roads that rarely take the direct route. The town gathers where the ground allows, and its streets are compact compared with the wide spaces around it.
Like many towns in this part of south-west China, Caohui is surrounded by farmland worked in terraces and small fields. On a detailed map the rural roads look like loose loops and spurs that connect villages to the town centre. The built-up area has a tighter weave of short streets, and it stands out clearly against the sparser lines around it.
A Caohui map poster captures the texture of inland Chongqing. There are no coastlines or grand boulevards here. Instead the image is made of meandering routes, clusters of lanes and the quiet gaps between them. It is a modest, honest portrait of a working town in the hills, and it rewards a closer look at the way each road finds its path.

Winding country roads
Roads leave the town in irregular curves, following valleys and skirting hills. They form long, loose lines that fill the outer parts of the map.
Hill-country texture
The surrounding land is folded and farmed. On paper this becomes a soft rhythm of small tracks and open spaces between the settlements.
