Contour-following streets
Because the ground rises steadily inland, many streets run across the slope in long curves and switchbacks. From above they look like terraces, one stacked on top of the next.

Cikcilli Map Poster & Print
Cikcilli is a district of Alanya on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, in Antalya Province. It lies on rising ground inland from the shore. On a map, the streets climb in layers, turning and doubling back as they go uphill, and the blocks between them get smaller and more irregular the higher they are.
The contrast with the flat coastal strip below is clear from above. Near the sea, roads run long and parallel to the shoreline. In Cikcilli they break into short, curving segments shaped by the slope, with large residential complexes set into the hillside. Behind the district the ground keeps rising toward the foothills of the Taurus Mountains.
A Cikcilli map poster can frame the district alone as a dense web of hillside lanes. It can also take in enough of Alanya to show the coastline and the town below. Either way, you see a place whose shape comes from the slope: streets that follow the contours of the hill instead of a planned grid.

View to the coast
Framed a little wider, the map shows the Mediterranean shoreline below the district. The clean edge of the sea balances the tangle of hillside roads above it.
Taurus foothills
North of the built-up area the street network thins out as the land climbs toward the Taurus range. The poster's upper edge fades into open, empty ground.
