Cimin, today officially known as Üzümlü, lies in Erzincan Province in eastern Turkey, close to the fertile plain that surrounds the provincial capital. The town sits where flat farmland meets the lower slopes of the mountains, and its streets reflect that position: a denser core near the centre and roads that climb or curve as they head toward higher ground.
The name is inseparable from the Cimin grape, a local variety grown in the vineyards around the town and celebrated in the region. Vineyards and orchards occupy much of the surrounding land, giving the landscape a patchwork character. The town's official name, Üzümlü, itself means grape-filled in Turkish.
