Soft town edge
The central streets fade gradually into surrounding homesteads, so the map shows no hard boundary between town and countryside, only a gentle change in density.

Damboya Map Poster & Print
Damboya lies in the Central Ethiopia region, in the green, densely settled highlands of the Kembata area southwest of Addis Ababa. On a map the town has a soft edge: its central streets gradually give way to homesteads and gardens, and there is little empty land between one settlement and the next. Roads and paths link everything into a continuous, finely woven pattern.
The countryside here is intensively farmed in small plots, and enset, the false banana plant that is a staple food in southern Ethiopia, is widely grown around homes. From above this produces a detailed, even texture rather than large fields. In a monochrome print the paths and lanes spread across the paper like fine lace, with the town centre as the densest knot.
A Damboya map poster is a close-up portrait of a place where town and countryside blend. It suits people from Kembata who now live in Durame, Addis Ababa or abroad, and anyone who appreciates maps where human settlement fills the landscape so evenly that the pattern itself becomes the subject.

Dense rural paths
A close network of footpaths links homes and plots across the hills, creating an intricate, even texture that covers much of the poster.
Highland setting
Rolling highland terrain shapes the course of roads and streams, adding soft curves and giving the overall composition a natural, flowing rhythm.
