De kaart
Dartford Map Poster & Print
Dartford sits in north-west Kent, where the small River Darent runs north to meet the Thames estuary. The historic town centre follows the old London-to-Canterbury road along the valley floor. From there, housing estates spread up the chalk slopes on either side. To the north, the land opens into marsh, industrial riverside and the wide curve of the Thames.
The map's defining structure is the Dartford Crossing, where the M25 crosses the Thames by tunnel and by the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge. Its approach roads and interchanges make a bold pattern east of town. Dartford station has its own place in music history: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards met on a platform there in 1961, a meeting that led to the Rolling Stones.
A Dartford map poster shows a town caught between old and new England. There is a medieval market street and a parish church by the river crossing, then motorway loops, retail parks and new estates on former quarry land. It is a rewarding map for anyone from north Kent or the edge of London.

River Darent valley
The narrow Darent runs through the town centre on its way to the Thames. The historic high street and church grew up where the old road crossed it.
Thames marshes
North of the town, low marshland and riverside works open out towards the broad Thames. That empty space contrasts strongly with the dense streets further south.

Waarom Dartford
Een kaart met betekenis
Dartford is home to many commuters, Kent families and music fans, and its map carries all of those connections. The mix of an old river town, a motorway crossing and estuary marsh makes an unusually strong graphic composition.
