De kaart
El Achir Map Poster & Print
El Achir lies on the high plateaus of eastern Algeria, a short distance west of Bordj Bou Arreridj. On a map it appears as a compact settlement surrounded by open agricultural land, with roads running out in several directions across the gently rolling terrain. The relief is modest, so the town's shape is set mainly by its roads and the pattern of new construction.
Like many towns in the region, El Achir has expanded considerably in recent years. That growth is easy to see from above: an older core of tighter streets, and newer housing districts laid out in more regular blocks around it. The closeness to Bordj Bou Arreridj links the two by road, and the space between them is increasingly filled with development.
An El Achir map poster shows a town in the process of taking shape, with a small original centre and the orderly additions that surround it. For residents and those with family ties here, it is a personal record of a place that is changing quickly, captured at a particular moment in its growth, which can be marked on the poster with a date.
