Hell-Ville Map Poster & Print
Hell-Ville, also known as Andoany, is the main town of Nosy Be, an island off the northwest coast of Madagascar. It sits on the island's southern shore, facing a calm stretch of sea toward the mainland, and its streets gather in a compact pattern around the port and waterfront.
The town takes its name from Admiral Anne Chrétien Louis de Hell, a French governor of Réunion in the nineteenth century, and some colonial-era buildings still line its central streets. Ferries and small boats link the harbour with Ankify on the mainland, making the port a busy point on the island's edge.
A Hell-Ville map poster frames the town between the open water and the island's green volcanic interior. The coastline cuts a clear, irregular outline, the harbour appears as a small inlet of activity, and roads leading inland thin out quickly into a sparse network across the rest of the island.

Compact town grid
Behind the waterfront, a small network of streets holds the market, shops and older buildings, making a dense cluster in an otherwise open landscape.
Roads across the island
A few main roads leave town and cross Nosy Be toward beaches and villages, drawing long lines through an interior dotted with volcanic crater lakes.
