Miners' cités
Former colliery housing estates appear as repeated rows of small, uniform plots. They create a distinctive, rhythmic texture across the town.

Hénin-Beaumont Map Poster & Print
Hénin-Beaumont is in the Pas-de-Calais department, in the heart of the former Nord-Pas-de-Calais coal basin. The present town was formed in 1971 from the merger of Hénin-Liétard and Beaumont-en-Artois. From above, its street network is dense and irregular, with no single centre. Older town cores sit beside rows of former miners' housing, and large commercial zones sit at the edges.
Coal mining shaped every part of this landscape. Mine sites, rail lines and spoil heaps still leave their mark on the map. The wider mining basin is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cités, pits and slag heaps. Major motorways pass close by and cut broad lines through the surrounding area.
A Hénin-Beaumont map poster shows an industrial landscape turned into an unusual graphic composition. The repeated rows of the cités, the curves of old railway lines and the large motorway interchanges all combine into a dense, layered pattern that is unlike any tourist-town map.

Merged town cores
Two older centres now form one town. They give the map several focal points instead of a single historic core.
Motorways and rail
Motorways and rail lines run through the surrounding land. They make broad, sweeping lines that contrast with the fine street pattern.

Waarom Hénin-Beaumont
Een kaart met betekenis
Hénin-Beaumont is home to families whose history is tied to the mines. A map of the town honours that history in a restrained way, without nostalgia.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or the year someone arrived. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir suits the coal-basin setting well.
