Nen River
The river winds past the district in loops, sandbars and side channels. It is the only curving element in a plan otherwise made of straight lines and large blocks.

Hulan Ergi Map Poster & Print
Hulan Ergi, better known as Fularji, is a district of Qiqihar in western Heilongjiang, set on the Nen River some distance southwest of the city centre. The land here is part of the wide Songnen Plain, flat and open, and the river winds across it in loops and side channels. On a map, the district's streets sit close to the water on otherwise empty ground.
Fularji grew into an industrial centre in the 1950s, with large heavy-industry plants, power stations and rail sidings. On the map these appear as big rectangular sites crossed by tracks, next to grids of workers' housing and wide avenues. The plan is highly regular, typical of planned industrial development and very different from the organic layouts of older Chinese towns.
The Nen River gives the district its softest lines, with sandbars, oxbows and wetlands along its course. The wider Qiqihar area is known for the Zhalong wetlands and their red-crowned cranes, though these lie outside the district. A Hulan Ergi map poster frames the district between river and plain, with its factories, rail lines and housing blocks drawn in clean detail.

Industrial sites
Large factory complexes and rail yards fill big rectangular areas of the map. The sidings and service roads crossing them give the poster a strong graphic structure.
Worker housing grids
Regular blocks of housing and wide avenues sit beside the industrial zones. They follow the orderly pattern of mid-century planned industrial towns.

Waarom Hulan Ergi
Een kaart met betekenis
For people who grew up in Fularji's housing estates or worked in its plants, the district is a very particular kind of home. A map poster records its river, rail lines and streets in a form that suits a modern interior.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with Fularji or a family name, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the industrial layout well. Download six print sizes for $9, or order a print.
