Paddy field patterns
Rice fields form neat rectangular plots that fill the flat ground between settlements, giving the map a fine, even texture that looks almost woven in black and white.

Inada Map Poster & Print
Inada lies in Ibaraki Prefecture, in the low, rolling country that stretches between the mountains of the interior and the Pacific coast northeast of Tokyo. On the map it appears less as a dense town than as a network of roads joining clusters of houses, with regular rice paddies and wooded rises filling the spaces in between. Rail and main roads give the area its strongest lines.
This part of Ibaraki is typical of rural Kanto: small communities, temple and shrine grounds tucked among trees, and fields arranged in neat rectangles that follow old drainage lines. Farming remains an important part of the landscape, alongside commuter links to the larger cities of the prefecture and, farther south, to Tokyo itself.
An Inada map poster reads almost like a textile: fine, repeating lines of field boundaries and lanes, broken by the firmer strokes of roads and rail. It is a gentle, understated image, well suited to people who value a sense of place over landmarks. The drawing captures what everyday country in central Japan looks like from above.

Clustered settlements
Houses gather along roads and at crossroads rather than in one large centre, so the map shows a series of small clusters linked by quiet lanes.
Wooded rises
Low hills and patches of woodland interrupt the fields. On the map they appear as open areas crossed only by a few winding paths, softening the grid of the paddies.
