Compact town centre
The historic centre of Iwai forms a small, dense knot of streets along the main road. It is the most detailed part of a map that is otherwise mostly open.

Iwai Map Poster & Print
Iwai lies in southwestern Ibaraki Prefecture and has been part of the city of Bandō since 2005. The area sits on the wide Kanto plain, with the Tone River not far away. On the map the old town centre is a compact cluster of streets along the main roads, surrounded by a broad pattern of rice fields, farm roads and scattered hamlets.
The district is closely linked with Taira no Masakado, the tenth-century warrior who rebelled against the imperial court and is said to have had his base in this area. The Kokuō Shrine, traditionally connected with him, is one of the local landmarks, and his story remains central to local identity.
An Iwai map poster captures a characteristic landscape of rural Kanto: a small town core, straight roads and a wide grid of paddy fields, broken by patches of woodland and the lines of rivers and channels. It is a quiet, orderly composition that suits a calm room and works well in Classic black & white or Paper.

Paddy field pattern
Around the town the land is divided into rectangular rice fields and straight farm roads, giving much of the poster an even, textile-like texture.
Masakado landmarks
Sites associated with Taira no Masakado, including the Kokuō Shrine, lie within the district. They connect the quiet modern plan with a well-known story from Japanese history.

Waarom Iwai
Een kaart met betekenis
Iwai is now officially part of Bandō, but many people still call it by its own name and think of it as home. A map titled with the old name keeps that identity alive and makes a thoughtful gift for family nearby or far away.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line as you like, for instance with Iwai as the title and Bandō in the subtitle. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters come with an optional frame.
