Jafaro Map Poster & Print
Jafaro is a town in the Androy region, in the far south of Madagascar. The region is the driest part of the island, known for spiny forest, scrubland and long dry seasons. On a map the town is a small cluster of paths and dwellings, with roads and tracks reaching out across a landscape that shows little other development.
Androy is the homeland of the Antandroy people, whose name is often translated as people of the thorns, a reference to the spiny vegetation of the south. Settlements here are generally small and spread out, shaped by farming, herding and the difficulty of finding water. Jafaro fits that pattern.
