The Itapocu River
The river loops through the centre of the valley, and roads and neighbourhoods line up along its banks. It is the single line that holds the whole composition together.

Jaraguá do Sul Map Poster & Print
Jaraguá do Sul sits in a narrow valley in the north of Santa Catarina, hemmed in by steep, forested hills. The Itapocu River winds through the middle, and the town grew along its banks. On a map the built-up area follows the valley floor in long bands, while side streets climb short distances up the slopes before the forest takes over.
The city was settled largely by German, Italian and Hungarian immigrants, and that heritage still shows in its festivals, including the Schützenfest shooting festival. It is also an industrial town: WEG, one of the world's large makers of electric motors, was founded and has its headquarters here. Factory sites appear on the map as broad blocks among the smaller residential streets.
A Jaraguá do Sul map poster shows how firmly the land set the plan. The river and the hills drew every edge, and the streets fill the flat ground between them. In black and white, the curves of the Itapocu and the ragged line where the neighbourhoods meet the hillsides give the print a flowing, organic outline.

Valley-bound streets
The street network stretches along the valley floor in long bands and thins out quickly where the forested slopes begin, leaving a clear edge between town and hills.
Industrial blocks
Large manufacturing sites, including the home of electric motor maker WEG, appear as wide, simple shapes that contrast with the fine grain of the residential streets around them.
