Southern coastline
The area sits near the Yellow Sea, and the coast's irregular edge, with inlets and headlands, gives the southern part of the map its most distinctive lines.

Kangnyŏng Map Poster & Print
Kangnyŏng lies in the southern part of South Hwanghae Province, close to North Korea's western coastline on the Yellow Sea. The map around it is mostly rural: a small central settlement with a modest network of streets, surrounded by farmland, low hills and roads that run out towards scattered villages.
Because detailed map data for North Korea is limited, the drawing is spare. A few main roads cross the area and link the town to neighbouring counties, while field boundaries, streams and the irregular edge of the coast give shape to the open space. The result is a quiet, open composition, with much more blank space than a typical city map.
A Kangnyŏng map poster suits someone with family roots in the region, or someone drawn to places that are seldom seen and rarely mapped in detail. It records the outline of the town and the surrounding landscape as a simple black-and-white composition, without claiming more detail than the available data provides.

Small town centre
The settlement itself is compact, with a modest cluster of streets that reads as a small, concentrated knot among the surrounding countryside.
Open rural ground
Much of the map is farmland and hills, drawn with few lines, which leaves generous white space and gives the poster a calm, minimal feel.

Waarom Kangnyŏng
Een kaart met betekenis
Many Korean families have ancestral ties to places in the south of Hwanghae that they cannot easily visit. A map of Kangnyŏng can serve as a quiet reminder of that history, or simply as a record of a rarely seen corner of the peninsula.
