Kemalpaşa lies east of İzmir, in a valley at the foot of Nif Mountain, the name the town itself once carried. From above, the town fills the flatter ground at the base of the slopes. The streets are tightly packed at the centre, while the southern side rises towards the mountain, where the street pattern thins out and gives way to terraces and forest.
The area is best known for its cherries. Orchards cover the valley and the lower slopes, and Kemalpaşa cherries are a familiar name in Turkish markets. In recent decades, an organised industrial zone has grown along the main road towards İzmir, so the valley now combines farmland, factories and residential districts.
