Kowŏn-ŭp Map Poster & Print
Kowŏn-ŭp is the administrative centre of Kowŏn County in South Hamgyong Province, inland from the east coast of the Korean peninsula. The town lies on lower ground in a river valley, with hills rising to the north and west. On the map it forms a moderately compact settlement, with a regular street pattern in the centre and farmland spreading across the valley floor.
A railway passes through the town, and the line and main road are its strongest structural features on the map. Rivers from the surrounding hills flow down toward the coast, and the valley land along them is divided into fields. The contrast between the flat, cultivated lowland and the wooded slopes gives the area a clear layered structure.
A Kowŏn-ŭp map poster presents the town through its basic geography: the rail line, the grid of the centre, the watercourses and the surrounding hills. Detailed public information about the town is limited, so the map lets that geography speak for itself in clean, simple lines.

Valley farmland
Flat cultivated land spreads across the valley floor around the town. Its field boundaries create an even texture around the built-up area.
Surrounding hills
Higher ground rises to the north and west. It frames the lowland and gives the edges of the map a sense of enclosure.
