Lautaro Map Poster & Print
Lautaro lies in the Araucanía Region of southern Chile, a short distance north of Temuco, on the banks of the Cautín River. It was founded in 1881 as a fort during the Chilean state's advance into Mapuche territory, and it takes its name from Lautaro, the young Mapuche leader who fought the Spanish in the sixteenth century. That origin shows in the town's straight, planned streets.
On a map the grid sits close to the river, which sweeps past the town in a wide channel. Beyond the streets the pattern shifts to large rectangular fields, the agricultural land that has long shaped the local economy, while the Pan-American Highway runs nearby, linking Lautaro with Temuco and with the rest of the country's long central corridor.
A Lautaro map poster sets these layers side by side: the disciplined street grid of a frontier foundation, the free curves of the Cautín, and the broad geometry of the surrounding farms. The result is balanced and legible, a map that carries both the history of the Araucanía and the everyday reality of a working southern town.

Farmland patchwork
Large fields and farm roads spread across the surrounding plain, dividing the land into wide geometric parcels typical of the Araucanía.
