Central square
The open town square, or alun-alun, marks the heart of Lumajang. In black and white it is a clear rectangular pause, and the main streets are set out around it.

Lumajang Map Poster & Print
Lumajang is a regency town in East Java. It sits on the fertile lowland between Mount Semeru, Java's highest volcano, and the Indian Ocean coast to the south. The town itself is compact. Like many Javanese towns it is organised around a central square, with streets spreading out along roads towards neighbouring towns and through rice and sugarcane fields.
Much of the region's character comes from Semeru. Its eruptions and the sand-laden rivers that flow off its slopes have shaped the land for centuries, and the regency also takes in crater lakes on the approach to the mountain. Within the town the ground is fairly even, so the street pattern stays regular and easy to read.
A Lumajang map poster sets that compact centre against a wide field of open space. River channels cross the plain, and roads fan out from the square. It is a town defined by what surrounds it, and the minimalist format suits that relationship well.

River channels
Rivers fed by the volcano cross the surrounding plain. They add thin, winding lines that contrast with the straighter roads and the regular blocks of the centre.
Radiating roads
Routes towards neighbouring towns leave the centre in several directions. They give the map a star-like outline that fades gradually into farmland.

Waarom Lumajang
Een kaart met betekenis
Lumajang is where many journeys towards Semeru begin, and it is home to people with deep ties to the eastern end of Java. A map of the town keeps both of those connections in view.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, then choose a style. The Sand and Paper styles suit the warm tones of a room, and Noir gives a stronger graphic look. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
