Gulf of Fonseca
The coastal plain slopes gently towards the Gulf of Fonseca, a large Pacific inlet shared by three countries. Its estuaries define the southern edge of the map.

Marcovia Map Poster & Print
Marcovia lies in the Choluteca Department of southern Honduras, on the flat coastal plain that runs down to the Gulf of Fonseca. The town itself is a modest grid of streets. On a wider map, the land around it becomes a maze of estuaries, tidal channels and rectangular ponds reaching towards the Pacific shore.
The area is known for aquaculture, especially shrimp farming. Many of the geometric pond shapes on the map belong to shrimp farms that sit alongside mangrove forest and farmland. The pattern is unusual: straight dikes and rectangular basins run next to winding natural channels, and the result looks almost engineered.
A Marcovia map poster brings out that contrast. In black and white, the ponds form tiled blocks, the mangrove channels trace fine branching lines, and the town grid anchors the composition inland. It suits anyone with ties to southern Honduras and anyone drawn to maps where water shapes nearly every line.

Pond geometry
Rectangular aquaculture ponds cover large areas around the town. Their straight dikes and repeating shapes give the map a strong, almost architectural pattern.
Mangrove channels
Natural tidal channels wind through mangrove forest between the ponds and the sea. Their fine branching lines soften the geometric blocks around them.
