Marília Map Poster & Print
Marília sits in the interior of São Paulo state, on a long, narrow plateau surrounded by steep escarpments and wooded valleys. The effect on the map is striking. A dense grid of streets covers the flat top, then stops suddenly where the land drops away, leaving a jagged edge of ravines around the urban area.
The city grew quickly from the late 1920s as coffee and the railway advanced into the western interior, and its regular grid reflects that planned expansion. It later became a centre of food processing and is known in Brazil as the national capital of food. The surrounding cliffs, known locally as itambés, are among the most distinctive landscapes in the state.
A Marília map poster shows the city exactly as the terrain defines it: a grid sharply cut off by the plateau's edges, with roads following the few ridges that connect it to the land around it. In black and white, the dense streets against the empty slopes make the outline read almost like a coastline.

Escarpment edges
Steep cliffs and ravines surround the urban area, so neighbourhoods end in irregular, finger-like shapes. These edges give the map a dramatic outline.
Ridge roads
The main roads leave town along the few spines of higher ground. They stretch the city into long arms between the valleys.

Waarom Marília
Een kaart met betekenis
Marília is a university and medical-school city, and many people remember studying or training here. Its unusual outline, shaped by the plateau, makes a recognisable, graphic print that looks nothing like a generic city map.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a graduation year or a family date, and pick one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint. Choose a printed poster with an optional wooden frame, or the $9 HD download.
