Mátészalka Map Poster & Print
Mátészalka is a market and railway town in far northeastern Hungary, in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, close to the Romanian and Ukrainian borders. The land around it is almost perfectly level, and the map shows it. Streets run in long, regular lines, most houses have gardens behind them, and fields begin right where the town ends.
The railway gives the town its strongest shapes. Several lines meet here, and the tracks, yards and embankments cross the street pattern at angles, dividing the town into distinct quarters. Beyond the last houses, drainage channels draw thin straight lines through the farmland, as is common across this once-marshy plain.
A Mátészalka map poster shows the Szatmár region at its most typical: open, orderly and quiet, with the railway as its main landmark. In print, the long streets and crossing tracks make a clean, almost diagrammatic composition that fits well in a modern interior and still reads clearly from across the room.

Long residential streets
Detached houses line straight streets with deep plots behind them. At poster scale this pattern turns into fine parallel lines.
Drainage channels
Outside town, narrow canals and ditches cross the flat farmland in straight segments, left by long efforts to drain this once-wet plain.
