Michurinsk Map Poster & Print
Michurinsk lies in Tambov Oblast on the Lesnoy Voronezh River, in the flat, open country of central Russia. From above, the older centre shows a regular grid typical of Russian provincial towns planned in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Railway lines sweep through the city, and its yards occupy large areas. The river valley with its meanders and woodland runs along one side.
The town was called Kozlov until 1932, when it was renamed after Ivan Michurin, the fruit breeder who lived and worked here and developed many new apple and fruit varieties. Michurinsk remains a centre of horticultural research, and it has long been an important railway junction in the region.
A Michurinsk map poster combines several strong elements. The strict grid of the old town, the broad curves of the railway and the soft bends of the river all appear in one frame. In black and white, it reads like a carefully drawn plan of a working town.

Railway junction
Several lines meet here, and their tracks and yards cover wide areas. On the map they cut long curved strokes across and around the city.
River valley
The Lesnoy Voronezh winds past the town through wooded and meadow land. Its loose curves add a natural edge that softens the geometry.
