Mujia Map Poster & Print
Mujia is a small settlement in the mountains of southwestern Yunnan, in a region close to the border with Myanmar. The landscape is steep and deeply folded, with ridges covered in forest and farmland and valleys so narrow that flat ground is scarce. The town occupies one of these pockets of level land, and on a map it forms a small, compact cluster.
Roads reach the town by winding along the mountainsides, and their curves and switchbacks show how steep the terrain is more clearly than any contour line could. Within the town, the streets are few and close together. Around it, some of the hills are farmed. This part of Yunnan is home to several ethnic minority communities and has a long tradition of growing tea.
