Nioro du Rip Map Poster & Print
Nioro du Rip lies in the Kaolack region of Senegal, south of Kaolack and close to the border with The Gambia. The town sits on flat, open land in the groundnut basin. Its streets form a broad, fairly regular grid, with sandy blocks spreading out from the centre and the main road running straight through.
The name refers to the Rip, a historic area associated with Maba Diakhou Ba, a nineteenth-century religious and military leader who is remembered across the region. Today the town is an agricultural and trading centre for the surrounding villages and farmland. The road through town links Kaolack with the Gambian border to the south.
A Nioro du Rip map poster shows a place defined by simple lines. The grid of the town, the long road through it and tracks leading out to nearby villages stand out against the wide spaces of the savanna. It is a quiet, legible map of a Sahelian market town.

Road to the border
The main road runs through Nioro du Rip between Kaolack and the Gambian border. It is the strongest line on the map and the town's main connection to the region.
Village tracks
Beyond the town, thinner roads and tracks run out across the farmland toward surrounding villages. They spread across the edges of the map like fine branches.
