Nuofu Map Poster & Print
Nuofu is a township in Lancang County in southwestern Yunnan, close to the border with Myanmar. The area is mountainous and green, with steep slopes, deep valleys and terraces and plantations wherever the ground allows. The population includes several of the ethnic groups that live in this part of the province.
Here the terrain determines the shape of the map. The settlement is spread along the more usable ground, and roads trace winding paths that follow the contours, doubling back on switchbacks to climb between valleys. Streets form small clusters where the land flattens out, and the rest of the frame is largely taken up by curving lines of rural roads.
A Nuofu map poster looks quite different from a city plan. Few straight lines appear, the roads loop and curve, and the empty mountain space around them gives a sense of depth. It is an unusual, organic composition that looks especially good in Paper or Sand.

Valley-floor clusters
Houses and streets gather on the flatter ground in valleys and on saddles, forming small, dense patches within the wider mountain landscape.
Border highlands
The township lies in the highlands near the Myanmar border, and a wider framing shows how thinly the roads spread across this rugged country.
