The Urup valley
The Urup runs past the stanitsa. Its winding course and wooded banks are the most natural line on the map, set against the straight streets.

Otradnaya Map Poster & Print
Otradnaya is a stanitsa in the south-east of Krasnodar Krai. It was founded in the nineteenth century as a Cossack settlement and is now the centre of the Otradnensky district. It lies where the steppe begins to give way to the northern foothills of the Caucasus. The Urup river runs alongside it and forms one natural edge that the rest of the plan follows.
On a map the stanitsa has the orderly look of a Kuban settlement: long parallel streets, generous blocks and deep household plots that leave plenty of green between the lines. The grid is long rather than deep. The river valley, with its bends and tree-lined banks, softens that geometry.
An Otradnaya map poster turns this pattern into something close to a textile. Rows of streets repeat across the sheet and the Urup cuts through them in one loose curve. Fields and foothills beyond the edge of town appear as open space, so the settlement stands out clearly against the countryside around it.

Stanitsa grid
Long, evenly spaced streets and large plots give Otradnaya the stretched, regular layout of a Cossack settlement. It was planned around households and gardens rather than dense blocks.
Foothill setting
To the south the land rises toward the Caucasus. Roads leaving town fan out toward valleys and villages in the foothills.
