Irrigation tanks
Rain-fed tanks, a long tradition across Tamil Nadu, form irregular shapes on the map. They are often ringed by fields that depend on them through the dry months.

Pālaiyam Map Poster & Print
Pālaiyam is a small town in the flat interior of central Tamil Nadu. On a map it appears as a modest cluster of streets around a few main roads. The built area soon gives way to fields and scattered hamlets, and the surrounding country is level enough that roads and field boundaries run on without interruption.
The name is common in Tamil Nadu, where palayam historically meant a settlement or camp, and many towns carry it on its own or as part of a longer name. Farming in this landscape depends on stored rainwater, and irrigation tanks, known locally as eris, appear on maps as irregular pools surrounded by fields.
A Pālaiyam map poster keeps the composition simple: a small core, roads leading to neighbouring towns, and the patchwork of cultivation around them. It suits someone who wants a map of the exact place they come from, rather than a better-known city that stands in for it.

Main road spine
The town's streets are organised around a few main roads. These carry traffic to nearby towns and give the poster clear lines to follow.
Field patchwork
Around the built area, small farm plots create a fine mosaic of boundaries that reads as a delicate texture in the black-and-white rendering.
