Drainage channels
Straight channels run for long distances across the plain, the defining feature of the map and a legacy of how this low, wet land was brought into cultivation.

Parit Sulung Map Poster & Print
Parit Sulung lies in Batu Pahat district in western Johor, on the low coastal plain of southern Peninsular Malaysia. The name says a lot about the map: parit is the Malay word for a ditch or drainage channel, and the landscape here is organised by them, long straight lines that divide the land into narrow, orderly plots.
Settlement follows the same logic. Houses and small villages string out along the roads and channels rather than gathering in a single dense centre, and the town itself is compact. Between them lie plantations and smallholdings, which on a black-and-white map turn into quiet open ground crossed by fine parallel strokes.
This is not a place of famous landmarks, and the poster does not pretend otherwise. A Parit Sulung map poster is about pattern: the measured geometry of drained farmland, the ribbon villages and the roads that tie them together, a rural Johor landscape that reads beautifully from above when drawn in clean lines.

Ribbon villages
Homes line the roads and channels in long single rows, so settlement appears on the poster as thin threads rather than as solid blocks of streets.
Plantation ground
Between the lines, plantations and smallholdings fill wide areas with little detail, giving the composition calm open space around the built-up strips.

Waarom Parit Sulung
Een kaart met betekenis
A map of Parit Sulung means most to people who grew up there or still have family in the kampung. Personalise it with a title of your choice, a subtitle with a date or a household name, and coordinates that point to home.
The strict parallel lines look especially good in Blueprint or Noir, while Paper and Sand soften them; Classic black & white keeps the drawing neutral. Download the HD files for $9 in six print sizes, or order a matte print from a print partner.
