Petapa Map Poster & Print
Petapa, formally San Miguel Petapa, lies just south of Guatemala City in the department of Guatemala, and it has become part of the capital's continuous urban area. The town has colonial roots. Its original centre, laid out around a church and plaza, still sits within the wider fabric of newer neighbourhoods that have grown around it.
Much of the map is made up of residential colonias and gated developments, each with its own layout of short streets, loops and cul-de-sacs. They fit together like pieces of a puzzle, bounded by main roads, ravines and the slopes of the surrounding terrain. The result is dense but irregular, with few long straight lines crossing the whole municipality.
A Petapa map poster records a place many families in Guatemala know intimately but rarely see drawn on its own. The small historic core, the tightly packed colonias and the roads linking them to the capital and to Villa Nueva make a detailed, textured composition. It works well at larger sizes, where each small street stays legible.

Colonias patchwork
Residential developments, each with its own loops and short streets, fit together across the map and create a dense, puzzle-like texture that invites close viewing.
Ravines and slopes
Uneven ground and small ravines interrupt the built-up area, leaving winding pale gaps between neighbourhoods and shaping where roads can run.
