Piriyāpatna lies in the west of Mysuru district in Karnataka, on the plateau between Mysuru and the hills of Kodagu. From above, it is a compact town gathered along its main road, with lanes spreading out into residential blocks. Irrigation tanks and fields surround it, and the green, wooded country toward the Western Ghats begins further west.
The Piriyāpatna map poster shows that familiar Deccan pattern: a clear main axis, an older, denser centre, and water bodies that shape the edge of the settlement.
