De kaart

Rānīganj Map Poster & Print

Rānīganj lies in the Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, in the heart of one of India's oldest coalfields. Mining began here in the late eighteenth century, when the East India Company opened some of the first commercial coal mines in the country. The town grew around that industry, and its map still carries the imprint of mining, railways and trade.

The Grand Trunk Road, one of the oldest routes in South Asia, runs through the town, and the railway toward Asansol passes close by. Streets gather densely around the market areas along these routes. Beyond them the land opens into a scattered pattern of colliery settlements, ponds and fields, with the Damodar River to the south.

A Rānīganj map poster shows a town that has played a quiet part in India's industrial story. Its streets were not laid out to impress. They follow roads, rail lines and the needs of work, and that practical pattern gives the map an honest, grounded character.

Grand Trunk Road

The historic highway runs straight through the town and forms a strong axis on the map. Shops and neighbourhoods have grown up around it.

Rail corridor

The railway crosses the area in long, steady lines that link Rānīganj to the wider coal belt and give the poster a clear structure.

03

Colliery landscape

Around the town, scattered settlements, ponds and mining sites create an irregular, dotted texture that contrasts with the denser centre.

Waarom Rānīganj

Een kaart met betekenis

For families with roots in the coal belt, Rānīganj is a place of work, trade and memory. A map of the town honours that connection. It also marks a part of India where industry and daily life have long been intertwined.

The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised with a name, a date or a short dedication. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir fits the town's coal heritage especially well.
